Dance...

. my family . my lover . my child . my life .

The expression of emotions, of experiences in life, of dreams and visions I have - this is what I love, this is what my heart is beating for. I wish to share this love with as many people as I may reach out to. I wish to feel these wonders of life, to give them form with body and voice, with all the tools I have. I wish to touch the essence while telling my stories.

I wish to touch you.

I love to combine all the dances and ways of expression I've learnt while growing up and traveling through the world. Flamenco, Jazz, Oriental, Modern, African, Indian dance! Ballet, singing and acting! Every style has its own interesting flavour and helps me to widens the spectrum of my dance. I love to play with impulsive movements coming spontaneously from the body while improvising, I love to explore the amazingly big range of emotions we have and I love to share this beautiful art form with all kinds of people.

About me

Bellydance performance, Germany 2010

Since I was born dance has been an element of my life. I grew up in the artistic ambience of a bellydance studio in Germany, owned by my mother Yamuna, a popular bellydancer, where famous dance instructors came to teach and perform. At the age of three I gave my first solo performance on the occasion of a festival for women at a cultural center in Germany. After attending ballet training from age four to eight, I gained experience in several dance styles and improved my technique and body knowledge with flamenco, jazz & african dance, yoga and contact improvisation. I began to teach at the age of 12, at first together with my mother, then independently. Regular performances at bellydance festivals in Germany became part of my life.

Learning belly dance

After attending a workshop of Raqia Hassan she invited me to join the 2002 Ahlan wa Sahlan Festival in Egypt, where I had the chance to perform with a live orchestra. In Cairo I participated in workshops held by Dina, Souhair Zaki and Mahmoud Reda, among others. After the oriental dance magazine Halima awarded me the 2006 Best Newcomer Award, I decided to follow my passion by acquiring a professional dance education. After four years of extensive training in classical ballet, contemporary & jazz dance, hip-hop, improvisation and acting, I received the Diploma for Stage Dance and Dance Education in July 2010 at the international Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance, in Munich.

In autumn 2010 I moved to Montréal to realize my dream of being a self-employed dancer. From October 2011 until 2012 I was part of the fusion dance group Ethereal Tribal in Montréal. We organized several shows and went on tour to the Canadian Strongman Championship in New-Brunswick. In January 2012 a new experience waited for me - I accompanied a South American music group "The Imbayakunas" to the Global Village Festival in Dubai.

One month long we performed our Native American dance and music show every night. Since 2011 I am part of the international dance company "Bellydance Superstars".

We are traveling through the world with several show projects. Last winter I went to India where I met the inspiring world music group "Yemadas". With them I traveled to several festivals in Portugal performing and making music throughout the summer 2013.
